I wanted to read Goethe's "Faust", but haven't been able to go to the library since I'm still reading Oscar Wilde's "The Picture of Dorian Gray". It's a fantastical book with a lot of artistic descriptions and a smack load of psychology. I don't like it. But it's interesting. And I've heard of Madeleine L'Engle. Years ago I read her book "A Wrinkle in Time", and still have the impression that it was like a child's cube puzzle. Metamorphosis like quality. Anne Rice's "Interview With the Vampire" left me with the opinion--vampires are more delusional than humans.

Artemis Entreri does rock.

i loooove the book Picture of Dorian Gray. When I first read it...i didnt like it...well i did but when i finished it i was like...what a waste of time

but then i read it again..and i love it!! plus i have a very old copy i guess its a rare edition. my dad was going to bring it to this book seller place..but he never finishes his projects so that hasnt happened yet.

anyways i finished blackwood farm. it was good but it ended so quickly. i hate read long books..that end in like 3 pages. you know like the problem is resolved in like a paragraph so they just end it.

anyways so yah..seems like we all have similar tastes in books. not completly..but we're all not completely into the same manga stuff either.

Funny enough, I picked up a copy of "Dorian gray" from the bookstore the other day and sat down to start reading it. I like it. It's . . . oddly funny!

I also managed to get my hands on a translated copy of Ringu, by Suzuki Kouji. Now THAT's a good book!

Truth be told, I haven't read a good book in ages. Actually, I haven't read a book at all in ages.

The last I can recall was Terry Goodkind's The Faith of the Fallen. It was good. All the while I've been reading fanfics. ^_^

Sounds like you're in the same boat as me, Celstarion, with the fanfiction. I've been reading mostly fanfiction for a few years. Mostly Harry Potter, since it's the biggest pool. Over the last month, I've been on fanfiction rehab to fight my fanfic addiction. An insurmountable amount of time goes to me reading fanfiction and the hell must stop. The creativity and the young minds at work, coming up with some originality, is as addicting as any drug. I pray to Jesus for help, but I hear no answer. Please no, I will not go searching for fanfiction today! I won't! Help me, Jesus.

Yep yep... the soulless beast of yaoi has consumed my being, and diverted it from the noble calling of reading. To keep it short(er): reading manga (OK, reading yaoi... it's not like I read a lot of other manga) is seriously endangering my reading habits. Currently it's much like a tightrope dance (metaphorically speaking, I'm no friggin circus dame) between reading the obligatory school books, and keeping up with the regular flow of fave yaoi releases...ah the tention!
Well, in the end, I guess it will work itself out.... I guess....hm...

Currently I'm reading Anne Rice. She's pretty much my favorite modern day author. I'll read just about anything if the first chapter or few pages keep me interested.

Of course, I've been distracted by my mangas and yaoi as of late. ^^ I guess I'm just making up for time that I spent reading novels instead of picture books when I was younger.

Ahhh yes, the addictivity of fanfics.

In an effort to save my level of English, I went to the library to borrow The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde and Johnny and the Dead by Terry Pratchett. ^_^

Hey,

well, I haven't read that many books in my lifetime. Not that I don't like to read, but it's hard for me to find a good book. Mostly I just read all my sisters old books, since we seem to have some of the same taste. I also seem to read a lot of vampire books. Yes, I am a vampire fan I guess. I don't know what it is, I find a book, and it just happens to be about vampires and I just happen to like it. Anyway, I think I will try some of the suggetions you guys wrote in, and maybe I will find some good reads. Thanks.
